Students With Special Educational Needs
At Fakenham Academy, we recognise that every child is special and unique. We are committed to working together with all members of our community to provide the best possible education for the pupils in our care. Our staff are passionate and committed to meeting the needs of all our children and strive to break down any barriers that are preventing children from making the progress they are capable of. As a school, we recognise the importance of not only supporting children’s academic progress but also developing their behavioural, emotional and social skills to enable them to be confident, independent learners and being the best they can be.

As part of SEN legislation, Local Authorities have a duty to publish a Local Offer setting out, in one place, information about the provision available in their area across education, health and social care for vulnerable children and young people. For more information, visit:

As part of the local offer, Norfolk County Council provides a good outline what happens if a child or young person is having difficulties with their learning.
Children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) may need extra help to enable them to learn and make progress in their learning alongside other children of the same age. This is known as SEN Support.
Find out about SEN Support.
A small number of children and young people may need further assessment, to find out if it would help to have an education, health and care (EHC) plan.
We think this is a fantastic video produced by Children, celebrating diversity. Everyone is different, so nobody is normal!
