The Sapienta Education Trust

We are proud to be part of the Sapientia Education Trust (SET). The Trust’s vision is To provide a world class education locally, enabling every pupil to flourish.

Jonathan Taylor, CEO says:

Sapientia Education Trust (SET) currently consists of 17 schools located in Norfolk and Suffolk.  The term Sapientia means wisdom and comes from the motto of our founding School Wymondham College.  16 of our schools are currently rated in all areas as either Good or Outstanding by Ofsted.  A number of schools have improved their ratings since joining our Trust.

Our pupils are at the centre of all of our work, our schools encourage curiosity, discussion, debate and provide a wide range of learning opportunities.  Our Trust works to enhance the quality of education that is provided in our schools.  The impact of our work can be measured in many ways, for example outcomes in our secondary schools are 'above average' for progress in GCSE league tables, our A Level outcomes are above national averages and our Primary Key Stage 2 outcomes have risen significantly and are above local averages.

We believe that schools are individual and we promote autonomy within a framework of common values.

We have a range of professional networks that support school improvement and enable us to fulfil our vision of delivering 'a world class education' locally.  We are proud that our schools deliver strong extra-curricular programmes and offer high quality pastoral support. Our schools are varied in composition ranging from a number of small rural primary schools through to much larger secondary schools, and we also run two state boarding schools.  This reflects the diversity of educational provision in our region.

As one of the highest performing Trusts regionally, we invest in developing our staff teams, our school facilities and enriching the lives of our seven thousand pupils.

Governance

Fakenham Academy joined the Sapientia Education Trust on 1 June 2020. The Board of Trustees of the Sapientia Education Trust is ultimately accountable to the Department for Education for the effective and efficient performance of all the schools within the Trust.

Following a review of governance arrangements across the Trust, Trustees have agreed on changes to the Governance structures which take effect from September 2022.  The overall aim is to further strengthen governance arrangements across the Trust.

Sapientia Education Trust is governed by a Board of Trustees who have statutory responsibility for governance.  Further information about the governance structure is available on the Sapientia Education Trust website.

Our revised arrangements have explicit aims, one of these being to ensure effective parental/carer input by means of a Parent Focus Group (PFG) at each school.
This group facilitates communication between the Headteacher and parents and carers and acts as a consultative group (see below).
